“Nearly 1 million patients have microdermabrasion procedures each year – an individualized skin care program may be recommended to maximize results.”2
PURPOSE® has long been recognized as a line of gentle skincare products appropriate for even sensitive skin and as such, has been recommended as a complement to prescribed therapies such as Retin-A®. The popularity of microdermabrasion for skin rejuvenation prompted researchers to study the adjunctive use of a PURPOSE® skincare regimen by patients undergoing microdermabrasion treatments.
A clinical tolerance study was performed to evaluate the use of a regimen of PURPOSE® Gentle Cleansing Wash and PURPOSE® Dual Treatment Moisture Lotion in subjects undergoing a succession of microdermabrasion treatments.
Fifteen adult female subjects between the ages of 25 and 55, representing Fitzpatrick Skin Types II through IV were enrolled in a full-face, six-week controlled clinical study. Subjects cleansed with PURPOSE® Gentle Cleansing Wash prior to their first microdermabrasion treatment and used PURPOSE® Gentle Cleansing Wash and PURPOSE® Dual Treatment Moisture Lotion SPF 15 adjunctively, twice a day thereafter, through the course of 6 treatments.
This study evaluated the use of PURPOSE® Gentle Cleansing Wash as an adjunctive cleanser and PURPOSE® Dual Treatment Moisture Lotion SPF 15 as an adjunctive moisturizer during, between and post-microdermabrasion treatments.
All patients completed the entire microdermabrasion tolerance study. The succession of microdermabrasions and PURPOSE® regimen was well tolerated by the patients as shown below:
