TIPS FOR MANAGING SENSITIVE SKIN

Cleansing

  • Avoid soap. A better alternative is a soap-free cleanser, such as a mild cleansing wash or bar, which has a lower pH than soap and less potential for irritation.

Moisturizing

  • Keep skin moisturized day and night. Use light, oil-free, water-based moisturizers to help maintain the skin's natural barrier.
  • Look for products with minimal ingredients, little or no fragrance.
  • Avoid skin-penetrating solvents such as ethanol and propylene glycol.
  • Protect your skin every day, all year long, by using a moisturizer with a sun protection factor of at least SPF 15.

More Tips

  • Test cosmetics on a small patch of skin before a full application, especially if you have an important event coming up.
  • Completely remove all traces of make-up before going to bed.
  • To help prevent dry skin, use a humidifier when you turn on your heat indoors.
